Catching Dreams
The Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded in 2008 by Calvin “Megatron” Johnson Jr., former member of the Detroit Lions and 2021 inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Foundation is dedicated to the education, training, and social development of at-risk youth, and provides financial assistance to community organizations. Since its inception, The Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation has helped hundreds of youths with limited financial resources “catch” their dreams on and off the field. The Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation strives to provide opportunities that will impact the lives of young men-and-women, and allow them to rise out of seemingly difficult situations and mature into confident, productive members of society.
How We Help
Fostering Social, Economical, Physical, and Intellectual Intergenerational Change
Community Support
•
One pillar of the 2008 inception of the The Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation, Inc. was to provide community support to under-served residents of Metro Atlanta and Metro Detroit by providing gifts, food, and care items: pancreatic awareness and support, and other means of financial assistance. We’ve dedicated hundreds of hours and invested countless resources to this charitable cause, and hope you’ll help us continue this work through volunteer opportunities and donations. Health and Physical Fitness
•
Another of our pillars is empowering the youth we serve in greater Metro Atlanta and greater Metro Detroit in catching their college and career dreams through participation in relevant, realistic, and rigorous initiatives during their progression to adulthood. Two free camps are offered to high school football athletes annually in these areas. In Metro Atlanta, a “Catching Dreams” Wide Receiver Camp for rising 9th through 12th grade wide receiver football athletes and in Metro Detroit, a “Catching Dreams” all-positions Football Camp for 9th through 12th grade football athletes. Scholarship
•
Another of our pillars is to ensure that the most vulnerable and at-risk teens in the Metro Atlanta and Metro Detroit area can continue their education through the awarding of scholarships and grants. The Calvin Johnson Jr. Foundation awards annual tuition and book scholarships to a variety of student-athletes in these areas who have not received a full scholarship. Recipients are selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, leadership on and off the field, academic goals, and financial need.
